    This weeks announcements:

    • Kudos to Marine Corps Junior ROTC! Our Marine Corps Junoir ROTC recently competed at the Fredericksburg NJROTC Drill Competition on Nov. 2. They placed third overall in their first Drill Competition of the year. Athletics (2nd Place), Male Color Guard (2ndPlace), Drill Team (3rd Place), Academics Team (3rd Place), Male and Female Sit-ups (1st Place), Male and Female Push-ups (1st Place).

    • November 18-21: Senior Prom Early Ticket Sales in E110 before and after school.

    • PHS will hold one last Financial Aid Night from 6–7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20th in the PHS Library and all PfISD students are welcome!
    • Spirit Night at the Growler Bar + Kendra Scott Trunk Show (Benefiting class of 2020) - December 5th from 5-9 p.m. We will receive a donation from both the Growler Bar and Kendra Scott from this event, so invite everyone you know!

    • Hendrickson FFA is hosting a discounted vaccination pet clinic on Monday, December 9th from 5-7 p.m. in the Ag Building. FFA Pet Clinic.pdf

    It's a great day to be a Hawk!

    This week's announcements:

    • Monday, November 11th - Spirit Night at Spare Time from 5-9 p.m. Please turn in receipts to the student volunteers that will be there collecting them.  Benefiting the class of 2020.
    • HHS FCA presents Fields of Faith this Wednesday, November 13th at 6 p.m. at the HHS Stadium. Come enjoy a night of worship, spiritual teaching, games, prizes, and prayer.
    • TAME (Texas Alliance of Minorities in Engineering)
      For ALL who are interested in pursuing a career in Math, Science, Engineering or Technology. Meet Thursday, Nov. 14th in B213 at 4:20 p.m. (The second Thursday of each month) Speaker will be Travis Havins, an electrical engineer and HHS graduate, and discussion of upcoming events …don’t miss the meeting. Refreshments will be served. If you are interested but unable to attend the meeting stop by B213, Mrs. Plaisance, for more information.

      Registration deadline to be eligible to participate in the TAME competitions is Nov. 15th. Register online at TAME.org  (Capital area - chapter, city – Pflugerville)
    • November 14th is the Minute that Matters! One minute of inclusion can make a world of difference to someone who feels left out. For one minute we are going to think about including all students and empty our pockets of spare change to donate to the Unified Champion Ambassadors, who got this school nationally recognized for inclusion!

    • Attention AP Students! The deadline for paying the deposit on your AP Exams was Friday, November 1. APTS has reopened the payment site until Wednesday, November 13. The website for paying for the AP deposits is https://aptsusa.com/hendrickson.

      Parents: Please PAY the $40 deposit ($15 for free/reduced lunch students) on each of your student’s exams no later than November 13! Deposits not paid by November 13 will result in exam cancellation. Any exams ordered AFTER November 15 will result in an additional $40 fee PER EXAM.

      If your student will not be taking the AP exams they are registered for, they must notify their teacher immediately!

    • 5k Pfun Run at Lake Pflugerville on December 7 at 8:30 a.m. - Sign up by Nov. 17 to be guaranteed a race t-shirt

    • Breakfast with Santa & Holiday Shopping Extravaganza - December 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the HHS Cafeteria - This annual event will offer a pancake breakfast, pictures with Santa, crafts, cake walk/bake sale, silent auction and 50+ vendors to shop from! Pre-order breakfast tickets are available until 12/9. After that, tickets may be purchased at the door.

    • Explore UT 2020 is taking place on Saturday, March 7 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free, no registration required. Explore UT 2020.pdf 
    • Since the spring of 2015, HHS has competed in the Cap10K School Challenge. The fastest high school is awarded $500, which we’ve won before! We hope to take it again this year! Don’t worry…the adults (teachers, parents, staff, alumni, etc) are not included in competition for fastest team…just the students. I’ve registered our high school team as HHS Hawk Nation. I invite you to join us. Registration is still $20!!! Don’t miss out on this deal! Don’t doubt yourself…you CAN DO THIS! No pressure, but Mr. Garcia is signed up. I hope you join us!

      Remember, parents, and alumni can sign up to be part of our team. Again, you DO NOT have to be a runner to complete the 10k. Register Here

    • Today, November 4th: Herff Jones will be on campus from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. taking graduation announcement, accessory and Cap and Gown orders for seniors.
    • Tuesday, November 5th: HHS will be hosting Travis County Election voting polls in the PAC from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    • Boys Basketball Open Try-Outs are Monday, Nov. 11th and Tuesday, Nov. 12th from 6:30-8:30 a.m. All participants must have an up to date physical on file or available to turn in the first day of try-outs.

    This week's announcements:

    • Seniors
      • Senior contracts are due Friday, November 1st. 
      • Herff Jones will be here Monday, November 4th to take cap and gown orders. 
    • Attention AP Students! The deadline for registering and paying a deposit on your AP exams is this Friday, November 1st! Remember that the process is different than last year! The website for students to register for AP tests is https://myap.collegeboard.org . Students are AUTOMATICALLY REGISTERED for the AP test once they enter the join code given by their teacher. They must do this for each AP test. Join codes are provided by the AP Teacher.

    • This past weekend members of the HHS yearbook and newspaper staffs traveled to San Antonio for the Texas Association of Journalism Educators Annual Conference. While there, students attended classes and competed in various competitions. Senior, Kaitlin Mackey, earned an Honorable Mention for her photograph in the category "Fiesta" and a Superior in the photo category "Motion." Junior, Ian Falkenbury, earned an Honorable Mention in the category "Motion." Additionally, this year's first issue of The Hawk newspaper won Honorable Mention, Best of Show.

    This weeks announcements:

    • Silver Dancer Auditions will be November 4th-7th  from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the dance room. The deadline for turning paperwork and applications in is November 1st at 9 a.m. For more information and eligibility requirements please go to the Silver Dancer website at hendricksonsilverdancers.com 

    • Hendrickson High School was represented well at the District 13-6A XC Championships with Paris Morrison-King qualifying for Regional XC Championships in Jesse Owens Memorial Complex in Dallas on October 28th. Go Hawks and congratulations. Good Luck, Paris!

      • October 26: Best Buddies is hosting a Halloween party from 10:00 -12:00 pm in the Hendrickson Cafeteria
      • November 14: Minute That Matters - Get your spare change ready! For one minute the entire campus will empty their pockets of spare change and recognize inclusion! The winning class (those that donate the most spare change) will receive treats!
      • November 15: Friendsgiving! UCS Ambassadors is partnering with Best Buddies to host a Friendsgiving at Pflugerville Park from 5:30-7 p.m.

    Just a few quick reminders:

    • NO SCHOOL Friday, October 11th or Monday, October 14th. Enjoy the long weekend!

    • Saturday School has been cancelled for this Saturday, October 12th. However, Credit Recovery will be open tomorrow Friday, October 11th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for students to work on credit recovery or make up hours.

    • Senior contracts will be given out next week on Tuesday, October 15th. These are due back to the front office by Friday, November 1st. 

    • Attention AP Students!

      Students can find the AP Exam scholarship application at https://hhshelp.weebly.com/ap-information.html. Students who do not qualify for Free Reduced Lunch and are taking more than one exam can apply. The scholarship applies to the second payment due in February, not to the deposit that is due Oct. 15.

      If your student will not be taking the AP Exam for the AP Class they are taking, they need to notify their teacher.

      The College Board will CANCEL AP Exam registrations if deposits are not paid by the deadline. Don’t get left behind!

    • SAT/PSAT testing will be administered next Wednesday, October 16th. Students must bring their ID's and a calculator (no wifi/internet capability or noise) if they have one.

      • On October 10th at The Pfield before the football game, counselors will be there to help you get started and answer questions! If you attend this application session you could earn two free tickets to the Football game that night!  5 pm-7 pm at The Pfield – Team Store (Home Side).
      • FAFSA SATURDAYS!!!  Need Help? – We are here for you! Local representatives will be on campus to help you complete the FAFSA! Sign up here for FAFSA Saturday events- www.collegeinsight.com  You can attend any location!
        • October 12th- @PHS 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
        • October 19th- @HHS 8:30 a.m. to12:30 p.m.

    • Hawk Cross Country ran in the Lampasas XC Meet. The Hawk Girls Varsity took 2nd place with Paris Morrison-King taking 1st place individual overall and Konner Faust and Karlie Riney finishing in top 15 for medals. In the Varsity Boys Division, Antonio Sanchez medaled finishing 10th overall. Abby Hinds also medaled in the 6A-5A Girls JV Division.
    • Students who have received parking tickets, may be eligible to have the ticket waived, through Oct. 10th. Stop by the front office with your parking permit agreement, driver’s license, car insurance and ticket, to see if you are eligible.     ROTC News
    Sept. 25 - HHS MCJROTC Cadets volunteered to assist Murchison Elementary School with their annual Grandparent’s Day activities.

    Sept 29 - HHS MCJROTC cadets participated in the Travis Manion 911/Hero’s run at Camp Mabry by volunteering assistance, providing a Color Guard, and by running in the event. Cadet runners in this event placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the “Male 17 and under” division and 2nd and 3rd in the “Female 17 and under” division.

    Students who have received parking tickets, may be eligible to have the ticket waived, through Oct. 10th. Stop by the front office with your parking permit agreement, driver’s license, car insurance and ticket, to see if you are eligible.     Cap10K School Challenge
    We invite you to be part of our 2020 HHS Hawk Nation Cap10K Team. Since 2015, we have participated in the Cap10K School Challenge. In the past we have been awarded trophies for largest team, and we have also won fastest team in which our campus was awarded $500! We hope to do it again this year! Our team consists of current students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni.     AP Exams
    AP testers – Please make sure you join your AP class through your MyAP site by October 1st. This will allow you to access the free online resources provided by College Board. Once you join your AP class with your join code (provided by your teacher), you will automatically be registered for the AP exam unless you tell your teacher otherwise. You can join your AP class online by visiting https://myap.collegeboard.org.

    Please make sure to pay your $40 PER AP exam deposit fee ($15 for free/reduced lunch students) by October 15th. You can pay online with a 3% service fee by visiting https://aptsusa.com/hendrickson/ or by mailing a check or money order to the address provided in your follow up email from AP Testing Services. Deposits not made by November 1st will result in exam cancellation.

    Students who DO NOT qualify for free and reduced lunch and have extenuating circumstances MAY qualify for assistance through AP scholarships. AP scholarships will be available October 1-17.     It's a great day to be a Hawk!

    This weeks announcements:

    • 2019 College Fair will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at Weiss High School from 6-8 p.m. and is open to all 9th-12thgraders!

    • Pre-sale tickets will be sold on campus for students and staff on Friday 9/27 during lunches. Presale prices are: $7 adults and $3 students. Everyone will pay $8 at the gate. ONLINE Pre-sale Link for HHS Homecoming Tickets here.

    • Credit Recovery Twilight hours are after school on Mondays & Wednesdays from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm in room E101 with Ms. Benn-Jones.

    • Yearbook Information:

      • The price for senior ads go up October 10th. Go to Balfour.com to order at the lowest price.
      • Prestige Portraits will be on campus on October 3-4 to take yearbook pictures for any senior who has not yet been photographed for the yearbook. Students will go during their Government or Economics class (or during Talon if they are not taking Government or Economics). The last day to take portraits at the studio to be included in the yearbook is October 31. Call 512-251-5558 to set up an appointment.
      • Underclassmen re-takes will be on October 18 during Talon, and A and B lunch.
      • Don't forget to order your 2020 yearbook at Balfour.com #makeitcount
