    Rocket Families,

Whew! Hats off to our teachers who adjusted their schedules and to our students for all their focus and perseverance this past week during STAAR testing. Those students who took the tests worked very hard to show off some of what they learned this year, and our younger students were especially courteous, responsible, and encouraging to their older peers.

We have a far less disrupted schedule this coming week, perhaps with the exception of Tuesday’s Election. Rowe Lane will be a voting location, so if you would like to partake in your civic duty while after picking up or dropping off your child this Tuesday, we can accommodate you.

I will be out of the office this week and less available than usual to reply to email and voicemail. Mrs. Waggoner will be acting principal this week until I return Tuesday, May 29, and we are thrilled to welcome Mrs. McKee back to Rowe Lane as substitute administrator! I wish I could be there to see the smiles on the faces of our upper grade-level Rockets when they see their former principal.

Have a marvelous week and a safe three-day Memorial Day weekend.

    Menchies Spirit Night THIS Thursday

The weather is warm, and Menchies is delicious – come out this Thursday from 5-8pm to congregate with your fellow Rocket Families over some Menchies. You’ll enjoy yourself and support our school. Be sure to mention Rowe Lane when you purchase and a percentage will be donated back to our school.

    Rocket Families,

Thank you, thank you for all the support and appreciation shown toward our teachers this past week. We have some of the best educators in the land, and I am grateful to our parents and PTO for helping to honor them this week and throughout the school year. A special shout out to the Hospitality Committee for breakfast, lunch, and dessert this week, and to our Cakes of Love team for getting elbow-deep in frosting to put smiles on our kids’ faces!

Please remember the third- and fourth-grade students will be taking the STAAR test tomorrow and Tuesday, and our fifth-grade students take their science test Wednesday. Our students are ready, and all they require is a good night’s sleep, a good breakfast, and a confident smile. They have earned the last part from a year of hard work and learning, so please make sure they are wearing it ;)

Otherwise, it is a fairly quiet week at Rowe Lane. Please read on for details of some upcoming events.

    Rocket Families,

We have arrived at the final month of the school year, and reflecting on how much we have accomplished already, I am tremendously grateful to the strong community around Rowe Lane. This past week, we established PTO Officer and Committee Chair positions. It is remarkable what a committed set of parents can do, and I am excited that we will ride the momentum into next year. By the way, there still are plenty of opportunities to jump in and lend a hand alongside some outstanding parent leaders. Check out the links in my signature below to get connected.

This week we take time to recognize and appreciate our teachers. Each year I say it, and each year it becomes more true: Rowe Lane teachers are exceptional. Around here we take to heart the mantra “Rockets Go Above and Beyond,” and our teachers live and breathe those words in so many ways, each and every day, to provide our incredible kids the education they deserve. It is tough work, both challenging and rewarding, and we are blessed to have extraordinarily competent and compassionate adults at every turn and in every role. Thank you for the large and small ways you fuel that effort.

    Feeling privileged,

    Rocket Families,

So, so proud of our Rockets. We wrapped up our third and final weekend of competition for Math Pentathlon with our 4th and 5th grade mathletes on Saturday. Shout outs go to our students and the parent and teacher coaches who worked with them all year.

Huge shout outs to our individual, community, and business partners and volunteers of the year: Krista Stilo, Louise Howard, and Sarj and Leslie Patel. Thank you for your generosity with your time and resources to benefit Rowe Lane students in big ways. This year would not have been as wonderful without you and your contributions.

Finally, bravo to our Seussical cast and crew for delivering FOUR, one-hour-and-fifteen-minute blockbuster performances last Thursday and Friday. Their efforts were shared with every Rowe Lane student during the day and to full houses each evening. Shout outs to all our parent volunteers and coordinators, and especially to Ms. Baxter, Ms. Stukey, and Mr. Bennett for taking on a tremendous task and going Above and Beyond expectations. The show was exceptional in every sense!

    Rocket Families,

There are so many impressive things to share about our Rockets this week. First, Fine Arts Night this past Thursday was spectacular, and it is difficult to pick a favorite moment. We had student artwork featured in the main hallway, martial arts performances by former Rockets, teachers on the main stage sharing their talents, and a first look at the opening number of Seussical!

We followed that up with our most successful 3rd Grade Market Day yet. Hats off to our teachers for facilitating a true, entrepreneurial experience for our industrious and brilliant students. Each of our Rockets developed a product or service to “sell” in an open market with proceeds going to charity. The format was authentic, and the variety of student-inspired wares and business decisions made in response to real conditions was not only educational, but powerful.

Saturday, our 2nd and 3rd grade Math Pentathletes competed against area mathematicians, and today, some of our own Rowe Lane Rocket artists are featured in a gallery at the Pflugerville Public Library. Many fine examples of our Rockets going Above and Beyond.

If you were fortunate enough to secure a ticket to Seussical this week, you will not be disappointed. Upgrades in stage lighting & sound, purchases of new wireless microphones from our PTO, and a talented entourage of now-seasoned cast members has come together in spectacular fashion. Hurry if you want to grab one of the last remaining tickets for Thursday’s show. Details on this and much more follow.

    Rocket Families,

We have much happening and a couple big events ahead this week. First, it is Book Fair week beginning Wednesday and running through the following Wednesday. Rocket Families,

So much to be proud of and thankful for this week! Our students showed off their talents at regional and state competitions, and our community rallied around our Fun Run for VR event. At last count, our total pledges had reached over $12,000! Thank you for your generous support of our students, and please send in any checks ASAP so that we can finalize our count. Our Rockets had an absolute blast on Friday and ran their hearts out to make good on their part of the effort. If you have not already done so, check out the PTO Facebook page for pics and videos. Shout outs go to our fabulous PTO for organizing the effort and to the Specials Team and Office Team for honoring the school incentives and keeping the energy high all week.

Shout outs also go to Rowe Lane’s Math Pentathlon Kinder and 1st grade students who competed this weekend and brought home bronze, silver, and gold medals! I also had the privilege of escorting one of our Destination Imagination teams to the State competition in Arlington this weekend where they represented our school well against other champions from around Texas. Rowe Lane truly is an exceptional school, and I am so grateful to our teacher and parent sponsors who make these experiences possible and enrich our students’ education.

A reminder that STAAR testing will take place this Tuesday and Wednesday for 4th and 5th graders. If our kids arrive smiling with confidence, well-rested, and fed they will have everything they need for the morning. While the day is mostly business as usual for the rest of our students, please know that we do have to rearrange staff assignments on these days to administer the tests and cannot accommodate volunteers and visitors as a result.

Volunteers needed for Spring Pfling Project THIS Week

Every student at Rowe Lane will have a chance to put his or her personal stamp on our campus starting Monday with Ms. Gonzales in art class. The attached photos will give you an idea of the vision we have for creating artful edging around our front flower garden, BUT we need some helping hands. In order for us to do this we must use exterior house paint, which will NOT come out of clothes. PTO is collecting t-shirts for Ms. V to have/use for ALL grade levels during this week's project. We also need some extra help with the younger students Monday – Wednesday this week. Please email RLESgreenrockets@gmail.com if you can help. 11:55-12:45(2nd)
    12:50-1:40 (1st)
