    Dear Families of 3rd – 5th Graders,

As we approach the holiday season, the children and staff of Timmerman would like to extend generosity to others through the Timmerman Cares Project.  Participating in the project allows students to learn the value of helping others.

This year, in conjunction with Veteran’s Day, all 3rd – 5th graders will be asked to fill the provided bag with some of the items listed below for soldiers who are stationed overseas.  These brave men and women will not be able to make it back to the states for the holidays.  One particular soldier in the unit, Walker Edgington, is a former Timmerman student.  Because we firmly believe, “Once a Timmerman kid, always a Timmerman kid,” we would like to have our current students reach out to our former student and his comrades to send some items and holiday cheer their way.

The drive is strictly voluntary.  Any items you could send back in the bag would be most appreciated.  The drive will run from Thursday, November 3rd – Friday, November 11th.  Donation drop offs will be at the front of the stage in the gym.  Please don’t hesitate to call or email if you have any questions.  Thank you for your generous donations.

Dear Families of Pre K/PPCD – 2nd Graders,

As we approach the holiday season, the children and staff of Timmerman would like to extend generosity to others through the Timmerman Cares Project.  Participating in the project allows students to learn the value of helping others.

This year, all Pre K, PPCD, & Kindergarteners - Second Graders will be donating items to help the Pflugerville Animal Shelter.  Please see the list below for appropriate donation items.  If you would like to contribute, please send your item(s) beginning Thursday, Nov. 3rd – Friday, Nov. 11th.  Donation boxes will be placed at the front of the stage in the gym.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email or call.  Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

    Good Evening Panther Families,

We have several enrichment opportunities for your students to get involved with at Timmerman.  Last week you should have received information on math pentathlon.  Our point of contact is Silva Beard if you would like more information.

Attached to this email is information about Designation Imagination.  Timmerman’s Sponsor for that club is Elisabeth McCoy.

Finally, in the very near future information about Academic UIL will also be coming home with your child. Hillary Brock serves as the campus sponsor for UIL.

If you have questions about UIL, Math Pentathlon, or Designation Imagination please do not hesitate to contact any of our sponsors.  I encourage all students to get involved with one of these awesome enrichment opportunities.

Have a wonderful evening; see you around the school this week.

    Panther Families,

The summer is coming, but that doesn't mean that reading and learning have to end! Help your child's mind stay active this summer so they'll be ready for school to start again in August.

Multiple research studies show that students who don't read or participate in enriching activities can lose up to two months of current learning. This is known as the Summer Slide. Students may start the next school year behind where they are now, and this adds up from year to year. Research shows that reading as few as 4 to 6 books can prevent this! Keeping minds active can help your child start the next grade where they are now, or even ahead.

The Summer Slide doesn't have to happen in your family! Here are some FREE opportunities to have fun, read, and learn.

Half Price Books Feed Your Brain: Track your reading. Aim for 15 minutes each day. When you hit 300 minutes, get a gift card! http://b.hpb.com/fyb/

Barnes & Noble: Earn a free book by tracking your reading! http://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/summer-reading/_/N-rs9

Pflugerville Public Library: Their summer reading program is for all ages, including adults! Registration starts on June 4, and you can get a free book for registering (while supplies last). They'll also have their 3D printer out for their Maker Pfest! They'll have special activities in June and July. You can find out more at their website: http://www.pflugervilletx.gov/index.aspx?nid=57

Timmerman Library: We will be open for a few hours most weeks over the summer. Students can check out up to 5 books, and we'll have a different fun activity each time. See the attached PDF and the school website.

You can start on the last day of school! Students can come in with a parent and get their first set of summer books. The library will be open from 12:00 - 2:00.

Contact Mrs. McCoy with any questions!
