  • STAAR Testing Next Week

Posted by Pamela Scarbo at 3/24/2017

    Good Morning Pumas,

Next week will be busy with important state assessment for our students on the following dates:

    March 28th - STAAR Reading, 8th

    March 29th - STAAR Math, 8th

(Science and Social Studies coming soon)

Students & teachers have been engaged in review interventions for the past several weeks to provide all students with support needed to help ensure success on these state assessments. Look for more STARR information in Mr. Kleypas's Friday blog.

I have had a few phone calls in regards to SSI (Student Success Initiative) which was established by the 76th Texas Legislature & modifited by the 81st which enacted grade advancement requiremets be applied to students in both 5th and 8th grade for students who take the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) Reading and Math test. As specified by these requirements, a student may advance to the next grade level only by passing these tests or by unanimous decision of his or her grade placement committee.  (more information can be found on the TEA website / student assessment/ssi). - you are welcome to contact me for additional information, too.

With that being shared, the teachers & I have been doing our best to lessen the anxiety we know these state assesments can bring upon our kids. Please encourage them to take their TIME, eat a good breakfast, get a good night sleep, & most importantly USE the strategies they have been practicing.

    Happy Friday,

Posted by Pamela Scarbo at 12/2/2016

    Good Afternoon Pumas,

With cooler weather upon us, please make sure your child has a warmer sweater or coat to wear during the next few weeks.  We are finiding a few lost belongings being left behind. To help us, you may consider writing your child's initials or name inside the garmet to help us return the item(s) to  him/her if needed.  We do have a lost and found area in the cafeteria where your child can check for missing items at their convenience.
