Mr. Locke releases new book

October 7, 2016
Draw Like This Pflugerville Middle School art teacher Christopher Locke will host a book release party Sunday in Austin for his new illustrated guide to drawing.

New York-based publisher Tarcher Perigee on Tuesday released Locke’s 192-page “Draw Like This! How Anyone Can See the World Like an Artist – and Capture It on Paper.” Geared toward the beginner as well as the veteran artist, the book covers topics such as the human face, elements of design, two-point perspective, negative space, and color and texture.

Locke last year was handing out copies of his “Sticky Note Portraits,” a colorful collection of 270 hand-drawn portraits in tiny sticky note format (3.25 inches square). It was also about a year ago when terms of the “Draw Like This!” deal with Tarcher Perigee were finalized.

The release party will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at BookPeople, 603 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin. Locke, in his fifth year at Pflugerville Middle, will speak and sign copies.

“Draw Like This!” sells for $16. For more on Christopher Locke’s artwork, visit .
