UIL Marching Contest

The Weiss High School Marching Band has advanced to the UIL state marching competition. Weiss finished in the top three at the UIL Class 5A Area D Marching Band Contest, Saturday at The Pfield, to advance to state.
The state competition takes place Nov. 4-6 at The Alamodome in San Antonio. Weiss is scheduled to perform Monday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. during the Class 5A preliminary round.
Connally and Pflugerville high school bands finished fourth and fifth, respectively, at the area contest Saturday. Eighteen schools competed at Area.
Pflugerville ISD will host the UIL Class 5A Area D Marching Band Contest on Saturday at The Pfield.
The UIL Area D Marching Band Contest will begin at 11:30 a.m. and feature Class 5A bands from Regions 8, 12, 18 and 26 that received Division I ratings in their respective regional competitions. Also slated to perform is the Texas State University Bobcat Marching Band, scheduled for a 5 p.m. show.
All four Pflugerville ISD high school bands received Division I ratings Oct. 19 at the UIL Region 26 Marching Contest in Austin. Division I is the highest rating awarded by the judges in UIL competition.
This year is a UIL State Marching Band Contest year for Class 5A, 3A and 1A, meaning Connally, Pflugerville and Weiss high schools each advanced to the Area D Marching Contest. Hendrickson is a Class 6A school.
Connally received its Division I rating for its show “As Above So Below…”. PHS performed its show “Villain” and Weiss’ show “The Golden Goddess” earned the Wolves their Division I. Hendrickson received its Division I rating for its show “Music for a Decadent People.”
At least seven bands will advance to the area finals, which begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Pfield. According to UIL rules, three will advance to the state contest.
