Staff members and students were honored for various awards during the April 10th Panther Pride Breakfast, including staff Rookie Teacher of the Year (Francisco Vicent), Humanitarian of the Year (Elizabeth Slade) and Teacher of the Year (Heidi Reich).  Help us congratulate the following:

Rookie of the Year - Francisco Vicent

Mr. Vicent hit the ground running this year teaching math and coaching football.  He has a wonderful rapport with his students; his calm demeanor and strategic approach to teaching makes math an easier task for all of his students.  Mr. Vicent is also a team player and well respected among his peers.  After demonstrating success with student performance on the Algebra I retest, he volunteered to take a class of Algebra I re-testers, striving for success for ALL of his students in this class!  He has been a wonderful addition to our panther family!

Humanitarian of the Year - Elizabeth Slade

The PHS Humanitarian of the Year is Mrs. Elizabeth Slade. Mrs. Slade works as part of our Behavior Support staff in the Special Education department. By forging relationships with our students, she helps them overcome some of life’s most difficult obstacles. Additionally, she serves as a sponsor for the Gender and Sexuality Awareness organization here on campus. She leads our No Place for Hate campaigns and is an integral part of making PHS a wonderful place every day.

Teacher of the Year - Heidi Reich

The PHS Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Heidi Reich. Mrs. Reich is in her third year of teaching here at PHS. She teaches one of our Essential Academics classrooms in the Special Education department. She is a colleague, mentor, and friend to all. She is always willing to go the extra mile to help out, and she always does it with a smile. The passion for her students is an inspiration to all who encounter her, and that is clear when you walk into her classroom.
