National School Social Work Week, March 4-8

March 4, 2019

To recognize their contribution to the educational efforts of our students Pflugerville ISD will take part in School Social Work Week to thank the social workers employed by the District.

PfISD employs 10 social workers who make an impact in students’ lives by helping remedy barriers to learning through their time, training and expertise. The collaboration of social workers with teachers, administrators and parents enable them to provide coordinated interventions and consultations designed to keep students in school and help families access the support systems needed to promote student success.

The School Social Work Association of America recognizes the first calendar week of March as School Social Work Week and this year’s theme is “Lucky Enough to be a School Social Worker” and this year’s recognition will run March 4-8.

PfISD encourages principals, administrators, teachers, students and parents to express thanks to their social workers for the vital role they play in helping students meet the academic, social and emotional challenges on the road to being successful. Social workers are encouraged to share their “Lucky Enough” stories on social media as well to highlight what they love about their job impacting the lives of students and families. This year’s hashtag for School Social Work Week is #SSWweek2019.
