Slots Open for Two-Way Dual Language Program
Feb. 15, 2019
Pflugerville ISD will offer a Spanish Two-Way Dual Language Enrichment (DLE) program for incoming kindergarten students for the 2019-20 school year.
The goal of the Two-Way DLE program is to produce students highly proficient in both English and Spanish. In the program, English language learners and Spanish language learners share the same teacher and classroom.
Two-way programs consist of both native Spanish speakers and native English speakers. Both groups are learning a second language, two ways: from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
The Two-Way DLE program will be available at four elementary campuses: Ruth Barron, Caldwell, Highland Park and Mott Elementary. Kindergarten students from throughout PfISD are eligible to participate in whichever of the four campuses they select.
Should more families express interest in the program than space allows, a lottery system will be utilized to determine the final selection of kindergarten candidates.
Younger siblings of currently enrolled PfISD Dual Language Spanish learners will be given priority pending available space. Parents interested in enrolling siblings of current program enrollees are required to attend one of the mandatory meetings.
Slots for the Two-Way DLE kindergarten classes are now open. However, parents wishing to voluntarily enroll their students in the program are required to attend one of the following parent information sessions listed below:
