CHS students attend music educators convention

CHS students at TMEA convention Students in the Connally High School and Pflugerville High School chapters of Texas Future Music Educators attended the Texas Music Educators Association annual convention Feb. 10 in San Antonio.

TMEA hosts the nation’s largest music educator convention, with over 26,000 people attending each year.

The annual convention features more than 300 workshops and presentations by internationally recognized educators for band, orchestra, vocal, elementary and college educators, and more than 100 performances. The convention also showcases over 1,100 exhibit booths representing various facets of the music education industry.

The keynote address for the students in attendance was former band director Tim Lautzenheiser, a nationally recognized speaker on effective leadership.

These 30 members of the PfISD TFME chapters were awarded entrance into all sessions, rehearsals, clinics and concerts during the convention.

Sponsors of the groups are choir directors Kelly Howard (Connally High School) and Monica Muscato (Pflugerville High School).
