In June, several middle school students were recognized by the Duke Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) for their achievements on the SAT and ACT tests. Present at the board meeting and qualifying for statewide recognition were Aditya Matey (Cele MS), Phillip Hissam (Dessau MS), Josh Manigsaca (Kelly Lane MS), Ethan McCullough (Kelly Lane MS), Josh Kruger (Park Crest MS), Drayden Philpott (Park Crest MS), Ethan Reid (Park Crest MS), Mateo Carlson (Pflugerville MS), Max Richter (Pflugerville MS), and Nicola Rowe (Pflugerville MS). Nicola qualified for both state and national level recognition.
In June, Pflugerville ISD students were recognized for receiving numerous awards and honors at the Interscholastic League Press Conference competition. Present at the board meeting were Chris Hawkins (Pflugerville HS), first place in Entertainment Feature; Andre McDade (Pflugerville HS), third place, Sports Feature); and Angelynn Ragland (Pflugerville HS), third place in Cartoon. Additionally, the PHS journalism staff won a first place Individual Broadcast Achievement Award in Documentary, and the Panther Prowler newspaper received a Silver Star - the top honor a high school publication can receive in Texas. PHS students are taught by David Robb.
