    Greetings Panthers,

It was great seeing everyone at our Miles of Smiles event for our seniors Wednesday, May 20th. The parking lot was full of PHS faculty and staff who showed up in support of our seniors. Mrs. Vernagene Mott (PfISD Board President) showed up to cheer for our graduates as well.

I’d also like to thank Debrah Watts, and all organizers of the upcoming senior parade May 28th. We are definitely proud of everything the Class of 2020 has accomplished.

We look forward to seeing everyone at graduation June 1, 2020 at 8:00 am.

  • PHS Weekly Newsletter 5/18

Posted by David Wiechmann on 5/18/2020

    Greetings Panthers.

I hope all the mothers had an amazing Mother's Day weekend!

It was great seeing all the students and parents at locker pick up and textbook drop off. Some AP students expressed concern about keeping their AP books through June 5th. Textbooks are available online, but if students would like to keep their AP books through June 5th, feel free to do so. Continue reading this newsletter for details about how to return AP books after June 5th. If you were unable to drop off other textbooks and/or library books, follow the same drop off procedures provided in this newsletter for book return.

Also, we are in the final stretch of the 2019-2020 school year. The grading guidelines were recently updated to reflect the following change, " An “I” will be calculated as a 69.4%." Please help us to ensure our students finish strong by monitoring student grades in Skyward.

  • PHS Weekly Newsletter 4/20/20

Posted by David Wiechmann on 4/20/2020

    Greetings Panther Families,

I sincerely hope this message finds you well as we have received an executive order from Governor Abbott to close all schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. This is not what we envision for our school year, especially for the class of 2020, but we must prioritize students’ safety and wellbeing, and do what is best for our community to slow the spread of COVID-19.

In accordance with Governor Abbott’s order, PFISD campuses will close for the remainder of this academic school year, and offer classes remotely. I have included the letter from Dr. Killian outlining the grading guidelines. Additionally, teachers have remote office hours to assist students who need additional support. Teacher remote office hours are published under the staff tab of the PHS website, or you can click here. Additionally, we have resources available to support our families during this difficult time.

  • Scholarship Application for the Austin Alpha Foundation

Posted by Heike Cook on 4/9/2020

Attached is the 2020 Scholarship Application for the Austin Alpha Foundation. We will be awarding academic scholarships up to $1,000, each for the 2019-2020 academic school year. All completed application packets must be received by the Scholarship Committee no later than FRIDAY, JULY 17, 2020.

The Austin Alpha Foundation (AAF) was formed in 1983 as a non-profit 501C(3) organization, which takes advantage of the opportunity to address many of the prevailing and emerging issues faced by the African American and minority residents of the Austin area. The non-profit status of the foundation provides the community with opportunities to mitigate these disadvantages while making tax-deductible contributions toward the development, expansion, and evaluation of the Foundation’s public service efforts. With the organizational goal of promoting scholarship and education for youth of the Austin and surrounding areas, AAF has awarded scholarships to college-bound high school seniors for over thirty years. In addition, AAF provides support for community-based organizations, contributions to the arts and promotion of educational programs. These endeavors are supported by member volunteer fundraising and solicitation of individual and corporate contributions.  Clcik:  Application
