Dear DRES Families,

I hope this finds you well. It has been so good to see many of you and our students, as belongings have been picked up. To catch a glimpse, a smile, a wave, maybe even a giggle has been incredibly uplifting for our staff, as the absence of children at school and in our daily lives, is very difficult. I know all of us are struggling with this situation on some level and I know we will get through it together. I truly look forward to the day that our normalcy returns and you are again able to share your wonderful children with us on a daily basis.

I have a few things that I wanted to remind you about. Today is the end of a progress period, so at 4:30 today, we will run progress reports. Students will receive a P (Passing) or an I (Incomplete). If a student receives an I, that will tell you that there are missing assignments or the student didn’t complete the assignment to mastery. You will receive the progress report next week. Keep in mind this is a progress report, not the report card, so there is still time for your child to turn in missing assignments. Be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher, as they are ready and waiting to help students.

Next week, we will begin the registration process. We will launch a contactless registration process for pre- kindergarten and new-to-PfISD students for the 2020-21 school year.

Registration packets may be picked from home campuses on the following dates:
• Monday, May 4 (8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.), Tuesday, May 5 (8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) or Wednesday, May 6 (4-6 p.m.)

Completed registration packets may be returned to home campuses on the following dates:
• Wednesday, May 6 (4-6 p.m.), Thursday, May 7 (8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.) or Friday, May 8 (8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.)

We encourage you to attach copies of necessary documents to registration packets and or email them to our registrar. Taking a picture of document and emailing will do. Required documents include parent ID, student birth certificate, student social security card, lease agreement/mortgage statement and a utility bill. Families will be notified once registration is complete. If parents miss registration packet pick-up, they are asked to contact their child’s campus registrar by email. For more information and questions about PK eligibility, please visit http://www.pfisd.net/prek.
