May 26, 2020 Update

Good Afternoon DRES Families,

It is hard to believe that the end of the year is upon us and what an end, it has been. We’ve rallied together to get through a situation that is not ideal. Despite the many obstacles that we faced, most students were able to access technology and/or learning packets to continue moving forward and we definitely have you to thank for that, as there is no question that it was a partnership and nothing would have happened without YOU!

Just before we say good-bye, I had just a couple of things to share:

  • Please continue to share with your friends and neighbors that we will continue to provide and takeenrollment packets. We have a table in the front of the school with needed materials and drop-off buckets. If you or a neighbor has questions about enrollment, he/she can email our registrar directly at
  • Pre-K, K and 5th drive-through graduations are scheduled as follows:
    • Wednesday: 5th Grade 4-6 p.m.
    • Thursday: Pre-K 4-6 p.m.
    • Friday: Kinder 4-6 p.m.
  • If your child has any other learning packet work that has been completed, please scan or take a picture and email/text to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.
  • We are looking for a little feedback from you about your experience as a Dearing/PFISD parent. The survey will close on May 29th. Click Here for Survey

Many of you have asked about what you can do to support your child during the summer. The best thing you can do is have your child read. It is equally beneficial to read to your child and have discussions about what is read. Additionally, as when I come across high interest activities, I will send out to you. (I have one below that might be high-interest for tomorrow.)

In close, I thank you for sharing your child with us this year. We look forward to a new school year, having the opportunity to see both your child and you.

Warmest Regards,
Christy Chandler
